Finding Out – How will we find out? Gathering information.

Over the first weeks of the term we came up with lessons that built your background knowledge about media.

You were able to engage in finding out task on each focus are:

Social media – Websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking.

News and reporting – News reporting involves discovering all relevant facts, selecting and presenting the important facts and weaving a comprehensive story. Reporting involves hard work, which in turn involves stamina and patience. The main function of journalistic profession is news reporting.

Advertising – Advertising is an audio or visual form of marketing communication that employs an openly sponsored, non-personal message to promote or sell a product, service or idea.

Messages in Music – vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion.

First Mrs Smythe and myself would like you to think about questions you have about the focus area. Your questions must start with How or Why? Think about how your questions would lead you to develop a call to action that could make a change in the world. Media is causing so much hardship in the world, how can you make a change?

After you have built your questions we will group you and then partner you. With your partner you both will Flipgrid your learning about your chosen focus area. What it is? How it is linked to media and any questions you still have about the area. You will have a chance to suggest an inquiry question you would like to focus on and a possible call to action. You will be advised Friday if your question has been successful.
