Inquiry Expo – The Importance Of Education
Today the Grade 3’s and Grade 4 students that I not only teach but get to work with regularly, presented an Inquiry Expo of excellence. The team of teachers In the 3/4 Unit are so enthusiastic and work closely with their students to bring the issues of the world into their classrooms. The theme of the expo was ‘The Importance of Education’. Today I watched 9 and 10 year olds promote solutions to problems children face locally and globally when they try and access education. The school hall was filled with colour and students excited to share their knowledge of what that they had investigated.
Feedback from parents was overwhelming. Comments such as ‘Every student could answer their inquiry question’, ‘Learning about the world is providing new experiences for our children’, ‘The issues they are trying to find solutions for are all real’ and ‘The students should be commended on their excellent manners’.
Things I learnt was that resources are needed for schools in Bali, their are many charities supporting children to go to school across the world, it’s not ok to be away and teachers are needed to volunteer in places like Ghana to help educate teachers.
I feel proud to be a teacher at Liddiard Rd Primary School and to work with such flexible and enthusiastic teachers who are open to globalising their classroom and tackling tough issues that can impact us locally and globally. A truely exceptional morning and Congratulations everyone for a very successful expo for term 3.
