Today 4J engaged in a follow on lesson about the mathematical concept of estimating. A variety of resources were displayed around the room. Manned with whiteboards students were asked to estimate how many items were in the large pile of resources in front of them. There was chatter in the room as decisions were made.
To take the lesson to the next level, students were asked to remove 10 items to see if this helped them to formulate a near accurate estimate. The room turned into strategy heaven. Students were measuring with their hands, forming new groups it was an excellent opportunity to sit back and watch and learn about my class.
