Water in Kabale, Uganda
As we celebrate world water day my concern is about water crisis among people of Kabale especially the Pygmies in Muko sub county. Take a glance at the photos below- one of the water points where pygmies fetch water. It is clear that water is life but then i wonder if this kind water is providing life to the people using it. This is just a man made hole which collects rain water during rain season. And what about when there is no rain ?. It is a pity that Pygmies are like refuges in their own country after they were evicted from their ancestral land which was Bwindi and Echuya forests.
Water crisis in Kabale district South Western Uganda remains a challenge most especially to women and children. Children of school going age miss school and walk long distances to fetch water for home use.
How can we help you and your country?
What subjects do you teach?
How do you connect to us?
Has anybody thought of a solution to your unsafe water? Are you happy with the water you have now? Is your school a big school? Do you have many students in your school?
Our country has a lot of water, but I think it is very disgraceful how many people waste water thinking its nothing. I see that you do not have that much water, I would love to help.
We have about 24/25 students in our grade.
We have inquiry days every single Friday, where we learn about a certain topic, this term it is about water and the global world, we are learning about countries that do not have access to safe water. it is very fun!
Good luck to your school and students!
