Complete an OWI in you Writer’s Notebook
Today you will be given the choice to choose one of the three pictures shown.
I have not given you any information about where these photos have been taken and why. To be successful today you will need to follow the following instructions:
1. Select an image
2. Complete an OWI – What do you see deep within the image? What are your questions/wonderings about the image? And what inferences can you make about the image?
* Remember if you ask a question/wondering you must try and answer it through your inference.
4. If you feel comfortable and have completed your OWI, try and write a short descriptive paragraph in your draft book. Use powerful language and do not tell your teacher a story, we want you to put your self in this image and describe what it’s like.
WOW!! Mrs Joyce is this a school over in India or Shrealankah? because if it is one of those schools than OH MY GOD they look like not rich but not poor so they are just in the middle but still looking at this picture inspires me and shows me how lucky we are to have all the resources we have not being judge mental but now that I think of it they don’t look like they have a lot of money I AM NOT UNDER ANY CERCOME STANCES BEING MEAN I SWEAR ON MY LIFE I AM NOT BEING MEAN TO THE PEOPLE IN INDIA OR SREALANKAH!
This session at school was hard. very hard. O.o
Is this in India??? Most of the pictures we have are from India. I think that in the 1st photo they are coming back from an election because there is heaps of people holding signs up with a mans face on it and I had a little sneak peek from the little description of info on the picture.
I could observe dry sand in the 1st photo and cracked roads so I wondered if they were in the middle of the dessert or somewhere but then I decided no because how can there be so many people?
Heidie,
What did you think of the picture if the classroom lessons under the bridge. Very sad but the children were learning and getting an education that I bet will help them in the future.
From Mrs Joyce
Mrs Joyce I think that the picture of the children is sad because the are more than likely in hot heat and they are outside. But they are still learning which is awesome because that means they have a better chance of getting a job in the future. By looking at the picture you can see bikes and I infer that is how they get where they are. The men writing on the chalkboards they don’t look like teachers but I could be wrong. But if they aren’t teachers I think they are adults teaching the students what they know which it hink is good for the students. I would thank the teachers for taking time out of their personal time to teach these students. You can they are poor because they have no shoes on and they aren’t at a proper classroom. If I could do something I would definitely go and donate money and I would even go over to help them build a new school for the poor so even if you don’t have money you should be able to get a good education. I think when we do that day when we do what the Indian school did it will probably make some people think about how lucky they are compared to others around the world. We shouldn’t take anything for granted. If people do take things for granted they shod go and visit the poor countries because then they should see how lucky they are.
My most interesting picture I like is the white building! Its just getting on my mind all the time! I am always thinking about it and I know there is something I know about that picture that I can’t find out! It is a very tricky picture to think about in my opinion! To me It looks like it was abanded but people moved so they were shelted! That would of been an idear if I was homeless and lost like them! It’s a good survival trick!
I am afraid of only one car, but many people ride in it.
But someone like it too.
