Many Stories — One Australia
On March 21st we celebrate Harmony Day. We wear orange as a symbol of togetherness.
This year’s Harmony Day theme, Many Stories — One Australia, recognises how each of us make up the chapters of the bigger Australian story we share today. Our stories may be hard to tell but also inspirational and heart-warming. Harmony Day is about community participation, inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. Together, let’s take the time to celebrate our diversity, go beyond the cover of the book and wander through the pages of each other’s stories.
Today 5/6J for reading you are going to choose a story from http://www.immi.gov.au/media/success_stories/ and we are going to learn about double entry journals. One column for Facts and one column for your thinking. There are some amazing immigration stories to choose from.
I think that it is good to celebrate harmoy day because we can become a big family and respect, learn and experiance different cultures. It is good to have harmony day because it brings peace and respecting to the world. We have to agree to different cultures because then we could get it the wrong way and think that they are affending our country an culture and thaty could stard real bad isshues. It could start war but I doubt it.
