No wonder our waistlines are getting wider! The average restaurant meal today is more than four times larger than it was in the 1950s.
A shocking new graphic from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention titled “The New (Ab)Normal” shows just how drastically portion sizes in fast food restaurants have been supersized in the last 60 years.
The size of the average burger has tripled, going from just 3.9 ounces in the 1950s to a typical 12 ounces now, according to the CDC.
Burgers are not the only foods to have increased in size, with fries and soft drinks also growing by leaps and bounds.
I’m not surprised- makes me think twice about upsizing my meals at McDonalds?
I am very surprised of this and wonder how much it will rise in the next decade. I feel like the fast food people are trying to fatten us up and make us keep coming back for more, I dont have many bad feelings, for I am a big fan of fast food. The thing I dont understand why is why do they keep up sizing the meals. All the yummy food is a bit to much. This makes me mad they’re just letting us eat BIGGER meals all the time, making us BIGGER! But because I like them so much I’m not going to do much about it.
So the questions are:
How much do you think that the meals will upsize in the next decade?
How much will the prices go up with the meals?
Do you think that this is a reason that Australia in on of the fattest countries and whats another reason?
I can’t believe how much it has changed over the years. We are eating double to what we use to eat. I love fast food but I reckon they put more salt and fat into the food so we keep coming back for more. All they do is keep making the meals bigger for less so we buy a bigger meal than we were before. My question is will they keep making the meals bigger? 🙁 I hope they don’t.
